Annette Kahl

Annette Kahl (born November 16, 1972 ) is a German disabled athlete .

Career

Kahl comes from Hamburg and has been playing basketball in her club, HSV , since she was eleven . Due to a knee injury, she played in the wheelchair team of HSV. Her performance was soon so good that she was called up to the German national team in 2003. With this team she took part in three European championships and two world championships and was used for the first time at the 2004 Paralympic Summer Games in Athens. She then also played at the 2008 Paralympic Summer Games for Germany as a team captain and won a silver medal with her team.

Professional

Kahl studied sports science and works as a sports therapist at the BG Klinikum Hamburg. She also works as a trainer and speaker at the German Wheelchair Sports Association.

Awards

In 2003 she was elected Hamburg Sportswoman of the Year. In addition, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on November 20, 2008 by the then Federal President Horst Köhler .
