Anni Brandt-Elsweier

Anni Brandt-Elsweier b. Anni Elsweier (born March 2, 1932 in Duisburg ; † September 1, 2017 in Neuss ), was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1990 to 2002 she was a member of the German Bundestag .

She studied law in Cologne and was a lawyer from 1964, from 1967 a judge at the district court in Düsseldorf (until 1990).

In 1963 she joined the SPD and became a member of the Neuss City Council in 1969 and of the Neuss District Council in 1975 (until 1994). 1984–1993 she was deputy mayor of the city of Neuss, 1984–1991 also deputy district administrator of the Neuss district. From 1990 to 2002 she was a member of the German Bundestag and was a member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth, the Committee on Election Review, Immunity and Rules of Procedure, the Election Review Committee and the Parliamentary Control Commission (PKK) .

In 2002 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class .
