Annika Hoydal (born November 19, 1945 in Tórshavn ) is a Faroese singer , composer and actress . In the 1970s she coined children's songs in the Faroe Islands, which have since become an integral part of the local songs.

Annika Hoydal was born in 1945 in the Faroese capital Tórshavn. She spent part of her childhood in South America, where her father Karsten Hoydal worked on behalf of the UN. In 1973 she completed an actor training at the State Theater School in Copenhagen. She made her debut in 1966 in the Faroe Islands. Annika Hoydal lived in Scotland and Spain for a few years.

Today she is a freelance actress and singer all over Scandinavia and lives in Copenhagen, with strong ties to her Faroese homeland. Annika Hoydal was an ardent admirer of the Faroese writer and artist William Heinesen , and she dedicated a CD to him on his 100th birthday. She also set texts by the poets Hans Andrias Djurhuus , Janus Djurhuus , Rói Patursson and Jóannes Patursson . Her brother, the writer Gunnar Hoydal, wrote many texts .

Annika Hoydal's nephew Høgni Hoydal is one of the most famous Faroese politicians.
