Anno 1147 was a medieval festival that has been taking place annually at the Hermann Grochtmann Museum in Datteln since 2006 .

On June 17, 1147 Pope Eugene III. the Benedictine - Abbey of Deutz , a certificate from their ownership rights. The document on the rights to the church in Datteln - in Datlem ecclesiam - is the first written mention of the place. At the city's Hermann Grochtmann Museum, the medieval village festival in 1147 always takes place on the weekend that is close to this date.

The Medieval Market also features an archery tournament , ax throwing , blacksmithing demonstrations and explanations of medieval fighting techniques and crafts such as glass beading and arrow making . The re-enactment of the High Middle Ages in the time of the Crusades is scientifically accompanied in order to ensure historical correctness. The organizers of the market are the Hermann Grochtmann Museum and Orga 1147 around the archaeologist Christian Wilczewski.
