The Loco-Motion was published worldwide on June 14, 1962 and achieved success in many countries. In the USA the song reached number one on the charts. The song is a popular and long-lasting example of a dance genre song, with much of the song dedicated to line dancing . In the Rolling Stone list of the 500 best songs of all time , the song reached number 359.

Cover versions

In 1974, Grand Funk Railroad released their version of the song, which was produced by Todd Rundgren and also became a number one hit in the US.

In 1987 Kylie Minogue covered the song and landed with it (first in Australia and 1988 in Europe ) a success. You could also hear this version in the Australian television series Neighbors .

The Loco-Motion was supported by The Ventures , The Chiffons , Brian Poole and the Tremeloes , Renate Kern , Susi Dorée , Emerson, Lake & Powell , David L. Stewart & Barbara Gaskin , Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers , Charly García , Fancy and Atomic Kitten covered.
