Anno Domini High Definition is the fourth studio album by the Polish progressive rock band Riverside . It was released by InsideOut Music in 2009 .
Creation and publication
After the Rapid Eye Movement , Riverside went on a European tour at the end of 2008. At that time it was already known that a new album would be called Anno Domini High Definition . Mariusz Duda consciously chose a four-word title for the fourth album; this alludes to high definition , the initials ADHD also to the English acronym for attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder . Anno Domini High Definition was recorded in early 2009. Rafał Gańko, Karol Gołowacz and Adam Kłosiński (wind instruments) were involved as guest musicians. The album was mixed by Szymon Czech and mastered by Grzegorz Piwkowski. It was also released with a concert video on DVD and LP. Travis Smith was responsible for the artwork.

style
Riverside play atmospheric and melodic progressive rock on Anno Domini High Definition with influences from art rock and above all from progressive metal . The compositions are mostly structured in a complex manner and are held together by a loose concept, suggested in the title, about hectic modernity. The album seems more intense and overall harder than its predecessors.
reception
The album topped the Polish charts for a week and received positive reviews from the press. Jürgen Gallitz-Duckar from the Babyblauen Seiten criticizes the impression of “hardness, hectic rush and chaos” that the album gives. Thomas Kohlruß, however, praises it as a “compact, powerful, wild work”, Christian Rode as “a very consistent, demanding and powerful album [...], musically and conceptually. One of the big prog highlights of 2009! ”For Mike Borrink from Rock Hard , Anno Domini High Definition is “ the band's next big step ”.
