Annus mirabilis (poem)

Annus Mirabilis , the year of miracles , is a poem by the English poet John Dryden from 1666 . Dryden wrote the poem in Charlton , Wiltshire , where he had fled the plague epidemic in London.

The poem deals with the Anglo-Dutch naval wars and the Great Fire of London .

It contains 1216 lines arranged in 304 quartets . Each quartet follows the rhyme scheme [abab].
