Ansfrit (Friuli)
Ansfrit (also Ansfrid ) was around 694 the dux (duke) of the Lombard duchy of Friuli .
Life
Initially, Ansfrit comes or Gastalde des castrum (fortress) Reunia ( Ragogna ). Around 694 he used the absence of the dux Rodoald of Friuli to usurp his office. Rodoald fled via Istria and Ravenna to Ticinum ( Pavia ) to see King Cunincpert . Ansfrit wanted to gain the kingship and marched with his army to Verona. There he was beaten, taken prisoner and finally brought to Ticinum before King Cunincpert . He was blinded and exiled. Cunincpert did not award the ducat again, but appointed Rodoald's brother Ado as loci servator (Governor).
