Ansgar Ahlers

Ansgar Ahlers (born December 31, 1975 ) is a German film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Ansgar Ahlers gained his first set experience as an assistant director in the mid-1990s, including in international cinema productions such as Duell - Enemy at the Gates , Halbtot - Half Past Dead , Luther . With this experience he started to found his own production company "forseesense", which has just established itself in the new economy market as an independent production company and produces several films for various science centers every year (BMW Welt, Danfoss Universe, Experimenta Heilbronn) . During this time he developed several sponsored scripts in collaboration with script consultant Philip Parker. Bach in Brazil is his third funded feature film script. His short films , which were made at the same time, have received awards at many film festivals around the world (including the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau short film award, nominated for the Golden Bear, TV cultura award, 2nd place short film award at the Filmfest Emden, Cinegate award, etc.). His first self-produced short film Covered with Chocolate ran in 2001 in the Berlinale competition program. The international young talent project DAYDREAMS (WeNeedYourTalent.com) he founded resulted in several short films with excellent ratings.

The successful short film “Taxi to Daydream”, which already links German and Brazilian culture, was made in collaboration with a Brazilian film group from the favelas and celebrated its film premiere as the opening film at the largest Latin American short film festival in São Paulo . He has also gained filming experience as a producer and director in a wide variety of countries: USA, India, Poland, and above all in Brazil. His first feature film, the German-Brazilian coproduction Bach in Brazil , won the Bernhard Wicki Prize 2015 and the NDR Film Prize 2015 . It started in cinemas nationwide on March 17, 2016.
