Schrattenburg residence in Aldrans

The Schrattenburg residence (also known as Schullernschlössl after its builder ) is located on the so-called Upper Field on the southern slope of the municipality of Aldrans in the Innsbruck-Land district of Tyrol (Rinner Strasse 10).

history

The historicist residence was built in 1908 for Hermann von Schullern zu Schrattenhofen , a professor at the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, who came from an old civil service nobility . At first the house was used for summer retreat. During the First World War, however, Schullern moved entirely to Tyrol in 1915, where he taught economics and statistics at the University of Innsbruck .

Building description of the Schrattenburg residence

With its monumental forms, the residence is based on the palace and castle architecture of past centuries. It has a mighty three-storey tower in the northeast, a single-storey corner bay window on the south side, risalit-like projections in the south-east and north-west, and one and two-floor rectangular bay windows towards the north-west and south-west. The building is characterized by an elaborate and varied detailed design of the facades (including bay windows, natural stone squaring, Mariahilff fresco). The staircase has been preserved in its original condition. The appearance of the residence has remained unchanged to this day, apart from modified windows and a few adaptations inside.
