Antanas Mikėnas
Antanas Mikėnas (born February 24, 1924 in Butkiškiai near Ramygala , today: Panevėžys Rajongemeinde , † September 23, 1994 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian walker who started for Spartak Vilnius and internationally for the Soviet Union . He was 1.78 m tall and weighed 69 kg.
Life
Mikėnas won the silver medal in the 20 km walk behind Leonid Spirin and ahead of Bruno Junk at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne .
Mikėnas worked as a physical education teacher at schools in Ramygala and Kėdainiai , from 1952 at the Lithuanian Institute for Physical Culture . From 1959 to 1989 he was a trainer and professor at Vilnius University .
