Anthea Askey

Anthea Shirley Askey (born March 2, 1933 in London , United Kingdom , † February 28, 1999 in Worthing , West Sussex ) was a British actress who was known on television in the 1950s .

Life

Anthea Askey was born in Golders Green , a borough of London, in 1933 . Her parents were Arthur Askey , a comedian and actor, and his wife Elizabeth May Swash, whom he married in 1925.
She played with her father on many of her appearances. Among other things in her first roles in the television series Love and Kisses (1955), in which she played Rose Brown, whose father Bill was in turn played by Arthur Askey, Ramsbottom Rides Again (1956), Living It Up (1957) and Arthur's Treasured Volumes (1960).

Askey married Bill Stewart in 1956 and gave birth to their son a short time later, who however died at the age of three weeks. She had two other sons, Andrew and William and a daughter named Jane.

In 1993 she got a supporting role in an episode of the television series The Darling Buds of May .

Anthea Askey died of cancer in Worthing, Sussex in 1999 at the age of 65 .
