Anthony Albert Mordaunt Hamilton
Anthony Albert Mordaunt Hamilton (born December 9, 1909 in Paarl ; † unknown) was a South African ambassador .
Life
Anthony Albert Mordaunt Hamilton was the son of George Hamilton. He married Emily Cardross-Grant on April 2, 1938. He attended Rondebosch Boys' High School , Jeppe High School for Boys, and New Colledge Oxford . Oxford Wits awarded him an honorary bachelor's degree from University Wits . He was appointed Secretary of the First Class Mission to the United Nations General Assemblies in 1947, 1948, and 1951. From 1954 to 1957 he was a delegation counselor. On August 31, 1957, he was special envoy to celebrate the independence of Malaysia . In 1958 he was special envoy to celebrate Ceylon’s independence . From September 10, 1957 to March 27, 1961, he was High Commissioner in Canberra . From March 29, 1961 to August 30, 1965 he was envoy in Stockholm and was also accredited in Helsinki Finland. From September 6, 1965 to December 3, 1968 he was ambassador in Madrid . In 1969 he was State Secretary in the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From September 4, 1970 to 1974, he had exequatur as consul general in Tokyo . After his transfer into the retirement 1974 he became in 1975 Director of Standard General Insurance .
