from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anthony Reuss is a retired American - German basketball player. The 2.00 meter tall winger played an international match for the German national team .

career

Reuss grew up in the US state of California and played basketball at Christian High School in San Diego and from 1981 to 1985 at the University of San Diego . In his last college season (84/85) Reuss was named the best player of his team and received the "Zable Athletic Excellence Award".

After the end of his university days, Reuss went to Germany and became a professional in the basketball league . In the 1985/86 season he played for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and a year later moved from the Rhineland to Upper Franconia to Steiner Bayreuth . With Bayreuth he won the DBB-Pokal in 1988 , the German championship and the cup competition in 1989. After the 1989/90 season he initially received no new contract offer in Bayreuth, but was brought back during the season when Steiner threatened to miss the connection to the top of the league. In total, he scored 2078 points during his Bundesliga time.

After his basketball career, Reuss returned to California and became a university professor. He first worked as an English professor at San Diego City College, and since then as a professor with consulting activities at San Diego Mesa College.

His son Connor followed in his father's athletic footsteps, albeit in a different sport: He played American football at the Air Force Academy and at the University of San Diego.

National team

In November 1988 Reuss played his first and only A international match for Germany in the European Championship qualifier against Yugoslavia.
