Marius Linnenborn

Marius Linnenborn (* 1968 in Essen) is a Roman Catholic priest and litigation scholar . Since November 1, 2016, he has been head of the German Liturgical Institute in Trier, a department of the German Bishops' Conference for the promotion of divine services .

Marius Linnenborn studied theology and art history in Bochum and Würzburg , and from 1992 to 1994 liturgical studies at the Benedictine University of Sant'Anselmo in Rome. After receiving his ordination in 1996, he was a chaplain in Oberhausen and Essen. From 2005 to 2008 he also completed a doctorate at Sant'Anselmo in Rome, where he received his doctorate with a thesis on the singing of children in the liturgy. He was a member of the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Essen and in 2009 served as the pilgrimage director of the Ludgerus Year 2009 in Essen-Werden . In 2010 he became pastor in Essen-Heisingen . He held teaching positions for liturgical science at the Philosophical-Theological University of Münster and at the Cologne University of Music . He is also the spiritual adviser of the German Choir Association Pueri Cantores .

In 2016, Marius Linnenborn was appointed as the successor to Eberhard Amon as head of the German Liturgical Institute; Amon had headed the institute since 1998.
