TTBG Steiner-Optik Bayreuth

The TTBG Steiner-Optik Bayreuth e. V. 1970 is a former sports club from Bayreuth with the departments table tennis and basketball. TTBG stands for " T ish t ennis- B etriebssport g ommunity."

The men's table tennis team played in the Bundesliga for three years in the 1980s .

Club history

The club was founded on July 10, 1970 as a table tennis company sports club of the Steiner Optik company on the initiative of the brothers Carl and Horst Steiner . In 1984 the basketball club Olympia USC Bayreuth was integrated, the club consequently renamed itself to BG Steiner Bayreuth . In 1997 the Steiner brothers gave up their commitment and the company was renamed Basket Bayreuth . The BBC Bayreuth association emerged from this in 1999 .

Table tennis

The men's team reached the 2nd Bundesliga South in 1983. Here she managed to march through to the Bundesliga with the cast of Milan Orlowski (CSSR), Witold Woznica (Poland), Peter Betsch, Erwin Koppold, Reiner Kürschner and Harald Lohbauer . After three years of service with eighth place each, the team was withdrawn in 1988. She had previously reached the final at the German Cup Championships in 1986/87, and a year later she was fourth here.

From 1992 to 1995, the men were represented in the second division for three years.
