Anthony Wayne Smith (* 28. June 1967 in Elizabeth City , North Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players. He played in the defensive end position for the Los Angeles / Oakland Raiders . In January 2016 he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

NFL

Smith was selected in 1990 as the 11th player in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Raiders . In 1993 he was signed for a further four years. After his contract expired in 1997, Smith could no longer find work with any team and had to end his career.

crime

Smith was accused in 2003 of throwing incendiary bombs on a furniture store. After two juries could not agree on a verdict, the trial against him was dropped.

On January 22, 2016, Anthony Smith was sentenced to life imprisonment for torture and triple murder. He was found guilty of kidnapping and killing two brothers in Los Angeles on November 10, 1999 , and of stabbing another man on June 24, 2001. The killing of a fourth person in 2008 could not be proven.
