Anthony Zhong Changfeng

Anthony Zhong Changfeng (born March 19, 1932 in Nanyu near Zhouzhi , Shaanxi ; † November 22, 2011 ibid) was a Chinese Roman Catholic priest of the underground church and bishop in Kaifeng.

Life

Zhong, born in Nanyu in 1932, was born into a Catholic family. He entered the seminary at the age of 12 . Despite closing the seminary and working as a cattle breeder and brick manufacturer during the Cultural Revolution , he held on to the priestly vocation. It was not until 1979 that he was ordained a priest and he was active as a pastor in Zhouzhi . He had 13 churches built. In 1998 he was ordained underground by Bishop John Baptist Liang Xisheng as a coadjutor bishop. He worked in the underground church and tried not to contact the state Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association . In 2008 he had to give up his post for health reasons.
