The Antistitium in Chur in the canton of Graubünden is a listed building at Kirchgasse 12 in the old town.

history

In 1470 the abbot of Disentis bought the building, which was then assembled with the neighboring property. Until the Reformation, the building belonged to the Disentis Monastery. After the Reformation , from 1557 onwards it served as the official residence of the main pastor of Chur, the Antistes , whose sermon place was the Martinskirche directly opposite. As one of the few buildings, it was spared the fire of 1574.

Furnishing

The building, which was last restored in 1965-67, appears massive with four floors, an arched main portal and a hipped roof . The windows are of the late Gothic style.

Inside is worth a flat-roofed and paneled pomp room whose ceiling is covered with ornaments. The so-called rabbit room in the former neighboring house shows paintings from 1580: In reverse of reality, animals capture a hunter.
