The Antofagasta de la Sierra volcanic field contains some of the youngest volcanic cones in the Puna region in Argentina. The volcanic field is located southwest of the Beltrán volcano and between the Salar de Antofalla and the huge crater of the Galán volcano in the east. The basaltic-andesitic cinder cones and the lava flows seem to be only a few thousand years old. Exact dates are not yet available.
