Antoine Régnault (16th century) was a French merchant and pilgrim.

Life

Antoine Régnault, merchant and citizen of Paris, traveled to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in 1549 .

In 1573 in Lyon he published the book Discours du voyage d'Outre Mer au Sainct Sépulcre de Iérusalem, et autres lieux de la terre Saincte about his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The book (first part) also deals with the Christian doctrine of the Chaldeans and the ceremonies at the reception of the knights of the Holy Sepulcher according to the old statute of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher from the year 1099. It also describes the encounters around the handkerchief of Veronica . The book was supplemented by Nicolas Chemin from Paris in a second part with the subjects of the grave knights and the emperors, kings and princes of France as well as the sovereign and direction of the knights of the order and the navigators of the Holy Sepulcher.
