The Antoinette Tubman Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Monrovia , the capital of Liberia . It was named after Antoinette Tubman , the wife of former President William S. Tubman (1944–1971).

The stadium is located in the center of the capital Monrovia. The stadium has been equipped with artificial turf since 2001 , this was paid for with financial support from FIFA (GOAL projects).

The stadium is mainly used for football matches and is the venue for the home games of Liberian clubs. Major political events and church days have also taken place there.

Football in Liberia has experienced an upswing despite the prevailing political unrest, thanks in part to close cooperation with organizations such as the West African Football Union (WAFU), CAF and FIFA. With this upswing, the successes on the international stage have set in, such as the first qualification of the "Lone Star" for the African Cup of Nations in 1996 (again in 2002). The most famous soccer player in Liberia is George Weah .
