Anton Amberger

Anton Amberger (born December 30, 1919 in Kösching ; † December 2, 2011 ) was a German agricultural scientist .

Career

Amberger was the son of the businessman Franz Amberger. He studied agriculture in Berlin and Munich and received his doctorate in 1952 on the subject of "The influence of different diets on the ferment content and quality of some grassland plants". After habilitation in the field of plant nutrition in 1958, a study visit to Aberdeen took him. He was then head of department at the Bavarian State Institute for Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Munich for four years . In 1966 he followed a call to the chair for plant nutrition at the TH Munich in Weihenstephan.

The main focus of his scientific work was application-oriented basic research to optimize high-quality plant production and maintain soil fertility.
