Anton Berger (sculptor)

Anton Berger (born May 13, 1935 in Munich ) is a German metal sculptor and emeritus professor at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences .

Live and act

From 1958 to 1962, Anton Berger studied sculpture and sculpture in the class of Franz Rickert at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown . After graduating, he began to work as an artist and took on teaching positions at the State College for Glass and Jewelry in Kaufbeuren and at the Vocational Education Institute in Munich. In 1964 he was appointed to Cologne as professor of metal sculpture at the Cologne factory schools . In his artistic work he concentrated on kinetic sculptures from 1966 to 1980 and created filigree metal objects as well as wind- and water-driven machine sculptures .

In 1971, the Cologne factory schools were integrated into the newly founded Cologne University of Applied Sciences and Berger worked there as the head of the art and design department. He perfected his metal tools there.

The TH Köln emerged from the university of applied sciences, with the KISD ( Cologne International School of Design ). Berger held the professorship for metal and design there from 1991 to 1995.

He has been retired since 2001 .
