Anton Bertle

Anton Bertle (* 1861 ; † January 16, 1929 in Sigmarszell ) was a German pastor of the Roman Catholic Church and homeland researcher.

Live and act

Anton Bertle was the pastor of the St. Gallus parish in Sigmarszell from 1891 until his death. In addition to his pastoral work, he was active in local politics; On August 4, 1918, the Schlachters energy cooperative was founded on his initiative. His main extra-professional interest was history. He wrote a chronicle of his community; in addition, he dealt with grave monuments such as the grave slab of Bishop Robert Hallum of Salisbury or the epitaph of pastor Johannes Baumgarten († 1606) in Wasserburg. In 1884 he was one of the founding members of the Alterthumsverein Kempten (since 1889 Allgäuer Altertumsverein , today Heimatverein Kempten ). Bertle belonged to the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings , on whose board he represented the State of Bavaria from 1910.
