Anton "Toni (o)" Gordonoff (born February 3, 1893 in the Russian Empire , † December 29, 1966 ) was a Swiss pharmacologist and toxicologist of Russian origin.

Life

Gordonoff studied pharmacology at the Universities of Bern and Nancy and graduated in 1921. In 1926 he completed his habilitation at the University of Bern. He was later appointed Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology by the University of Bern, he headed the Department of Pharmacology, was a member of the Swiss Commission for Medicine and Drugs and the Swiss Working Group for Electroencephalography .

As the main expert in defense of Maria Popescu , he brought about a second appeal for a review of the case in 1953, together with Georges Brunschvig . He examined the allegation of veronal poisoning and found confusion with Quadronox in the charges that led to the dubious conviction of Popescu in 1945 . When Gordonoff thereupon “ openly accused Prof. Naville of ' incompetence', prosecutor Cornu and court president Cougnard stuttered ... something of 'inevitable errors'”. Thereupon one put «Popescu a pardon request».
