Anton Jurgens (full name Anton Daniel Jürgens * 11. February 1823 in Hannover ; † 22. August 1883 ) was a German painter and decorator and yard - arms painters.

Anton Jürgens lived in the royal seat of the Kingdom of Hanover , where he designed the first postage stamps for domestic mail on behalf of his sovereign King Ernst August I. Only from his number 1 listed in the Michel catalog , which was first issued on November 30, 1850 at 1 Gutegroschen (Ggr.) In the colors black on gray-blue, three hand-drawn designs are known.

Anton Jürgens lived in 1870 on the Bel Etage of Theaterstrasse 4b in Hanover. At that time, the teenager and later painter Carl Wiederhold completed a four-year apprenticeship with Anton Jürgens.
