Anton Könen

Anton Könen (born July 17, 1929 in Cologne ; † August 7, 2020 in Mechernich ) was a German homeland researcher and postal worker .

Life

Könen worked as a truck driver for the Deutsche Bundespost for 22 years . He volunteers as a local historian and deals with the history of the city of Mechernich and its districts. He published the results of his work in numerous exhibitions, in publications and in contributions to local radio and television stations. In cooperation with the businesswoman Maria Schwer, he published nine dialect books from 1989, the Mechernich Verzällche .

In 2005 he was awarded the Rheinlandtaler for his work .
