Anton Müller-Wischin
Anton Müller-Wischin (actually Anton Müller, born August 30, 1865 in Weißenhorn , Ulm , † July 24, 1949 in Marquartstein ) was a German portrait and flower painter.
Life
Anton Müller was originally a village school teacher in Staudach-Egerndach , where he taught in a class with over eighty students. He dealt with painting as an autodidact. It was only at the age of 35, encouraged by Franz von Lenbach , that he decided to become a painter. He spent a lot of time in Munich's museums and attended Heinrich Knirr's painting school .
After marrying Mathilde Wischin in 1901, he adopted the second part of his surname. Müller-Wischin received numerous awards and became a member of various artists' associations.
Anton Müller-Wischin showed his works at many art exhibitions, including during the Nazi era at the Great German Art Exhibitions in the House of German Art in Munich. Overall, with 50 exhibited works, he was the third most frequently shown artist at the Great German Art Exhibitions between 1937 and 1944.
A collection of 35 pictures by the artist is in the Weissenhorn Local History Museum.
