Anton Schwaiger (politician)
Anton Schwaiger (born July 3, 1911 in Vienna ; † March 3, 1975 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and city councilor in Vienna.
Life
Anton Schwaiger was born the son of a milker and attended elementary school classes in Ebbs for five years . Schwaiger then moved to a humanistic grammar school in Vienna for four classes and then entered the Schotten grammar school , where he graduated from high school in 1931. As a result, Schwaiger got involved in the “Youth in Need” and “ Youth at Work ” campaigns. In 1934 he became secretary of the "Reich Association of Catholic-German Youth", after which Schwaiger worked as secretary of the Catholic youth of Vienna.
In 1937 Schwaiger entered the service of the City of Vienna and worked at the youth welfare office. After he was dismissed from his position for political reasons in 1939, Schwaiger worked as a commercial clerk at the AEG Union. After the Second World War he worked in the Ministry of Social Affairs, from 1946 he worked as the secretary to Vice Mayor Lois Weinberger .
Schwaiger became the first regional youth leader of the Austrian youth movement in Vienna in 1945 and was elected on November 25, 1945 as list leader of the ÖVP- Ottakring in the Vienna state parliament and local council, to which he belonged until September 30, 1967. In addition, Schwaiger was Jonas III's city councilor for urban enterprises in the state government .
After his death, Schwaiger was buried in the Ottakringer Friedhof .
