Anton Spenling

Anton Spenling (born January 26, 1953 in Hollabrunn ) is an Austrian lawyer and judge . He was Vice President of the Supreme Court from 2015 to 2018 .

Life

Anton Spenling was born on January 26, 1953 in Hollabrunn , Lower Austria . He graduated from Mistelbach in 1971 and then began studying law at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna . There doctorate Spenling in 1975 for Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur.). After completing his studies, he entered the judiciary and was initially a candidate for judge before he was appointed as a district judge at the Vienna Higher Regional Court in 1979 .

From 1980, Anton Spenling was transferred to a permanent position as judge at the Regional Court of Wiener Neustadt . In 1993 he was promoted to judge at the Higher Regional Court of Vienna , in 1997 to judge ( Hofrat ) at the Supreme Court, where he initially worked in Senates 8 and 9, two civil law senates. In 2010 Spenling took over the chairmanship of the civil law Senate 8, which deals with insolvency as well as social and labor law matters, among other things. From 2012 to 2013 he was also President of the Supreme Appeal and Disciplinary Commission for Judicial Personnel.

On January 1, 2015, Spenling and Elisabeth Lovrek were appointed Vice President of the Supreme Court by Federal President Heinz Fischer . On January 31, 2018, Anton Spenling retired in accordance with Section 99 RStDG due to reaching the age limit of 65 years. His successor as Vice-President of the Supreme Court was Eva Marek .
