Anton Walter (music writer)

Anton Walter (born June 15, 1845 in Haimhausen , † October 1, 1896 in Reichenhall ) was a German church music writer.

life and work

In 1868 Walter was ordained a Catholic priest. During the last 14 years he worked in Landshut as a high school teacher. In 1890 he was promoted to Dr. theol. hc and appointed clergyman in 1896 .

From 1879 Walter worked as a permanent employee on the music magazines Cäcilienkalender and church music yearbook , Musica sacra and the flying sheets for Catholic church music . He published Dr. Franz Witt, founder and first general president of the Cecilia Society: A picture of life. (Regensburg 1886, 2nd edition 1906).
