Antonino Calderone

Antonino Calderone (born October 24, 1935 in Catania ; † January 10, 2013 ) was a high-ranking member of the Sicilian criminal organization Cosa Nostra . He became known through his collaboration as Pentito with the Italian state from 1987.

Calderone was the nephew of the same name Antonino Calderone, who was involved in founding the first mafia family in Catania in 1925 , and the brother of the high-ranking mafioso Giuseppe Calderone . He was arrested in Nice in 1986 and has provided the investigative authorities with detailed descriptions of the Cosa Nostra and its activities since 1987. The minutes are 867 pages long, including 160 arrest warrants. In March 1991, the sociologist and civil servant Pino Arlacchi had over 40 hours of conversations with Calderone, which resulted in the bestselling Mafia from the inside .
