Wilhelm Haerlin

Wilhelm Haerlin (* 1906 ; † 1958 ) was a German artist who is best known for his art-in-building objects.

Works

A “monumental two-part mosaic picture for the Springer high-rise ” in Hamburg is regarded as his most important work . In 1957 he designed the glass fronts of the state trade school shipyard and port in Hamburg with depictions of ships in various glass cutting techniques (notch cut, flat cut, rough cut and bright cut). The works have been preserved to this day. He also created “lacquer sgraffitos ” as wall pictures for the ships of Hamburg shipowners.

Haerlin became a member of the Hamburg Secession in 1947 .
