Antonio Cristofori
Antonio Cristofori , also Antonio Christofori (born June 23, 1701 in Verona , † August 10, 1737 in Eisenach ), was an Italian painter and musician . He was the painter of the now lost portrait of Anna Magdalena Bach .
Life
Christofori's father, Francesco, was a Veronese spice dealer. Further details from his youth are in the dark.
From 1726 Christofori worked as a cellist in the Kassel court chapel until the death of Landgrave Karl . In 1730 he then moved to the Eisenacher Hofkapelle as Cammer Musicus and cellist . He also appeared as a painter in both Kassel and Eisenach.
At the turn of the year 1733/34 he converted to the Lutheran confession. Johann Bernhard Bach was the godfather of his third son, born in 1734.
