Antonio Croci (composer)

Antonio Croci (* around 1610 in Modena , † after 1642 in Bologna ) was an Italian composer of the early Baroque .

Live and act

Fra Antonio Croci joined the Order of the Franciscan Minorites (OMinConv) in Bologna at an early age . Around 1633 he became the organist of the monastery of San Francesco in Bologna, today's Basilica of San Francesco . Around 1642 he was Kapellmeister at the Church of Santo Felice in Bologna.

Several Croci's collections were printed, including the “Misse e Salmi concertati” (Venice, 1633) and the “Frutti musicale de tre messe ecclesiastice per rispondere alternatamente al coro” (Venice, 1642), and he also created several works for organ. He wrote the theoretical work “ Geminato Compendio overo duplicata guida altretanto curiosa quanto necessaria per giungere facilmente alla perfettione del canto Piano over Fermo ” (Venice, 1642).
