Antonio Gisbert
Antonio Gisbert Pérez (* 19th December 1834 in Alcoy , † 25. November 1902 in Paris ) was a Spanish painter of Classicism . He was known as a history painter of pictures about important events in the history of his country.
biography
Gisbert began his artistic training at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid . In 1846 he worked under the leadership of José de Madrazo y Agudo (1781-1859). From 1868 to 1873 he was director of the Museo del Prado in Madrid. In 1873 he moved to Paris, where he died years later.

- El fusilamiento de Torrijos y sus Compañeros en la playa de Málaga is his most famous work. It was created in 1888 and is now in the Museo del Prado.
