Antonio Ingroia

Antonio Ingroia (born March 31, 1959 in Palermo ) is an Italian public prosecutor and politician.

Ingroia worked as a public prosecutor in his hometown (since 1987 together with Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino ), primarily in the fight against the Mafia and corruption . In various publications he has dealt with the phenomenon of the Mafia and reminded of his two colleagues Falcone and Borsellino, who both fell victim to an attack.

On December 29, 2012 Ingroia announced his candidacy for the 2013 Italian parliamentary elections at the head of a new alliance, the so-called « Rivoluzione Civile » ( Civil Revolution ). A number of center-left parties joined this alliance: Partito della Rifondazione Comunista , Partito dei Comunisti Italiani , Federazione dei Verdi , Italia dei Valori and the Movimento Arancione (Orange Movement) of the Neapolitan Mayor Luigi De Magistris .
