biography

Marini trained in Prato and then under the direction of Pietro Benvenuti in Florence. He was active in numerous Tuscan palaces and churches, mainly as a performer of religious and historical themes and frescoes, but also as an artist of purely decorative painting. His only large fresco north of the Alps, "The Olymp", was made by Prince Nikolaus IV. Esterházy de Galantha (1765–1833) as the culmination of the adaptation work in his recently acquired Viennese palace (formerly Palais Kaunitz in Mariahilf) for the ceiling of the Octagonal ballroom commissioned in 1819. Marini also worked as a restorer of old paintings, in this regard he was active during the period of the great romantic revival. Marini was married to the painter Giulia Nuti, who contributed to some of his works. He is buried in his hometown, in the convent of the Church of San Domenico.
