Antonio Mesa Bonc (born June 13, 1895 in Santo Domingo , † May 21, 1949 ) was a Dominican singer (tenor).

Mesa was promoted from 1910 by the singer Raudo Saldaña , who performed with him in a duo. In 1914 he made his debut on the guitar of Saldaña at the Teatro Independencia . In 1915 he became a member of the Cuadro Lírico directed by José Solá , which also included Raudo Saldaña, Tatica Bobadilla and Miquico Cruzado . The collaboration with Saldaña ended in 1918 when he died of the Spanish flu.

In 1924 Mesa founded the duo Mesa-Ithier with the Puerto Rican singer Salvador Ithier, which performed in Puerto Rico. In New York in 1925 the recording of the singer Rafael Hernández Marín from the duo became the Trio Borinquen or Quisqueya , which performed Puerto Rican and Dominican songs. During this time he was known as El Jilguero de Quisqueya . The trio recorded a number of Dominican songs by composers such as Luis Lockward , Salvador Sturla , Alberto Vázquez and Porfirio Golibart for the Columbia Phonograph Company .

In 1930 the trio separated and Mesa formed a new Grupo Quisqueya , led by Esteban Peña Morell . After its dissolution, he worked with Jacinto Martín , Luis Eduardo Henríquez and Antonio Bustamente .
