Antonio Orbe ( 1917 - June 8, 2003 ) was a Basque Jesuit and professor of Gnosticism .

Antonio Orbe was a professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University since 1949 . He was considered a leading expert in the field of Gnosticism.

Gian Maria Vian dedicated an obituary to the famous scholar in the Catholic daily Avvenire with the title Orbe, the Jesuit who attacked Gnosticism .
