Avvenire (in German: Future , the Coming ) is an Italian daily newspaper. It was created in 1968 from the merger of two Catholic newspapers: L'Italia from Milan and L'Avvenire d'Italia from Bologna .
The newspaper is strongly oriented towards the teaching of the Catholic Church , but is independent of the bishops. In the statute of the Avvenire, for example, it says that the newspaper should definitely have its own opinion in order to defend the values that are based on humanity, morality, depth and solidity. The Avvenire characterizes itself as a Catholic newspaper, but it is also aimed at non-Christians or non-believers.
