Antonio Pérsico

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonio Pérsico (* before 1953 in Buenos Aires ), also known by the nickname Tanque , is a former Argentine football player in the position of a striker .

Life

Pérsico began his football career in the youth division of his "home club" Boca Juniors , where he also received his first professional contract in 1953 . In 1954 he was part of the squad of the team that won the Argentine soccer championship. In the championship year Pérsico came to six missions and he played all the point games that the Boca Juniors completed between July 25 and August 29, 1954. In early 1957 he moved to Vélez Sársfield .

But in his total of four years that "El Tanque" spent in the top division of Argentine football , he only came to a total of 19 missions (eleven for Boca and eight for Vélez), in which he only scored one goal. So it should have been interesting for him when CD Tampico , who had just been relegated to the second Mexican division , made him an offer. Pérsico took the chance and showed what qualities he had; because with a total of 44 goals he was the top scorer in the 1958/59 season in the Segunda División . Thus he scored almost forty percent of all 115 goals of the Jaibas Bravas in this season and played a decisive role in the club's immediate return to the first division . For the 1959/60 season he also received reinforcement from his compatriots Ricardo Bonelli and Roberto Rolando , with whom he formed a first-class assault line in the following seasons and won the Mexican Cup competition in the 1960/61 season .
