Roberto Oscar Rolando is a former Argentinian soccer player in the position of striker who also worked as a coach after his playing career .

biography

Roberto Rolando played most of the time for clubs in his home country ( Independiente , Boca Juniors , Estudiantes de La Plata , Vélez Sársfield and CA Argentino de Quilmes ), but also made guest appearances in Colombia and Mexico .

In 1957 he played abroad for the first time when he was under contract with Boca Juniors de Cali and was the second best scorer this season with 23 goals. When the club withdrew from professional football at the end of the season, Rolando returned to Argentina and played for Vélez Sársfield.

Before the 1959/60 season he received an offer from the Mexican first division club CD Tampico and, together with Ricardo Bonelli and Antonio Pérsico, formed a first-class assault line, which together with the champions Chivas Guadalajara scored more goals (52 each) than any other team, which was what the promoted team helped to a respectable seventh place. Rolando's contribution to this success was immense, as he was the top scorer in the Mexican Primera División that season with 22 goals from 26 games played . In the following season 1960/61 Rolando belonged - unique in the history of the CD Tampico - to the winning team of the Copa México .
