Antonio Pennacchi (born January 26, 1950 in Latina ; † August 3, 2021 ibid) was an Italian writer .

Life

Pennacchi's parents had been settled on the Pontine Plain during the fascist era of Italy when the swamps there were drained. He worked as a shift worker and commuted in his political socialization between the Italian neo-fascists and the Maoists . In the 1970s he was active in the Italian trade union movement , with the socialists and the communists . In 2007 he joined the Partito Democratico .

In 1982 he started writing. The novel Mio fratello è figlio unico was filmed in 2007 ( My brother is an only child ). The short film Tatting Verdi was also based on a story by him. In 2010 he was awarded the Premio Strega for the novel Canale Mussolini .
