Antonio Razzi (* 22. February 1948 in Giuliano Teatino , province of Chieti ) is an in Switzerland living abroad Italian politicians .

Life

Antonio Razzi emigrated to Switzerland in 1965 at the age of 17. There he found a job in the textile industry in Emmenbrücke and over the course of time held various functions in the company. At the same time, Antonio Razzi was involved in club life for Italian guest workers in Switzerland.

Sociopolitical career

In 1977 he co-founded the Abruzzo regional center in Lucerne , which today has more than 1000 members, and has been its president since 1985. In this role, he supports the preservation and dissemination of Abruzzo culture and customs in Switzerland with numerous initiatives and events. Among other things, he organized a three-week exhibition on culinary and cultural topics of the Abruzzo region in Lucerne in 1993 under the motto “Abruzzo polmone d'Europa”. In 1994 he was honored with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for his commitment to the preservation and promotion of the culture of his homeland .

Since 1999 Antonio Razzi has been President of the Association of Abruzzo Emigrants in Switzerland (Federazione Emigrati Abruzzesi in Svizzera, FEAS), which consists of fourteen local sections.

Political career

His political or partisan career began in 2000 when he became the international representative of the Italia dei Valori - Lista Di Pietro party founded by Antonio Di Pietro in 1998 . He held this office until 2005.

The change in Italian electoral law in 2002, which introduced constituencies abroad and gave Italians abroad their own parliamentary seats, opened up the possibility for Antonio Razzi to run for a seat in parliament in the Italian parliamentary elections in 2006 . With these he reached the entry into the Italian Chamber of Deputies as a representative of Italia dei Valori .

Antonio Razzi was re-elected in the early parliamentary elections of 2008 .

Change of party and allegations of bribery

In 2010, Antonio Razzi gained notoriety when he changed fronts at the last minute in a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Berlusconi and saved Berlusconi from defeat. He resigned from the opposition party Italy of Values of Antonio Di Pietro and joined the group Noi Sud , supports Berlusconi. Previously, he was offered a secure mandate in an Italian constituency, as well as the repayment of a mortgage on his house in Abruzzo, which he had bought with money from his Swiss pension fund.

Antonio Razzi has been married to the Spanish Maria Jesùs Fernàndez since 1974 and has two children.
