The village is an old castle on a hill between the rivers Venna and Dendalo , which flow into the Foro . It is located about 10.5 kilometers southeast of Chieti .

The castle complex from the 11th century is strategically located. Fief included the Orsini and the Caracciolo as landlords. The place is mentioned for the first time around 1320.
