history

Monteodorisio was first mentioned in a document in 993, but was already settled in the Roman era.

The name is derived from Count Oderisio Caracciolo , who incorporated the place into his extensive fiefdom .

In the 14th and 15th centuries, the place gained military importance due to its dominant position on a hill. During this time, the Castello di Monteodorisio, built in the 11th century, was expanded by the Caldoras and D'Avalos families .
