Casalbordino is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5972 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo .
geography
The municipality is located about 42 kilometers southeast of Chieti directly on the Adriatic Sea (the center is about 8 kilometers inland). The coastline is called Costa dei Trabocchi or - because of the climate - "Little Normandy".
history
The place or the community got its original name after the condottiere Roberto Bordinus. This was the settlement area of the Frentans , so that settlement remains can be traced back to the 2nd century BC. In 971 the Johannes Abbey was founded in what is now Santini.
traffic
The Autostrada A14 , Strada Statale 16 Adriatica and Strada Statale 364 di Atessa run through the municipality . There is a stop at the Ferrovia Adriatica , the railway line from Ancona to Lecce .
