Villamagna is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2260 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 6 kilometers east-southeast of Chieti and is part of the Unione delle Colline Teatine .

history

In 1059 the place was first mentioned as Villa Magna .

Viticulture

Since 2011, the red wine grown here has had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC), which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

The red wine produced here must consist of at least 95% Montepulciano grape variety . A maximum of 5% other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Abruzzo region may be added.
